03A: Mastering Negotiation

Role Play Simulation

Leaders and managers are required to negotiate in many different situations. Whether it be with a potential or existing client, a supplier, an employee, or others within the organization, successful negotiations focus on cultivating relationships and win-win conclusions. And yet, many managers do not have the practical negotiation tools and tactics they need to become successful negotiators and create value for our local economy.

Great negotiation skills are essential for creating value and achieving success — both in our professional and personal lives.

Developed using current leadership and management research, Mastering Negotiation – Role Play Simulation training module uses a unique blend of negotiation simulation and observational learning, along with video-based media, classroom exercises and discussions to strengthen and sharpen leaders’ and managers’ negotiation skills.

Learning Objectives

  • Define negotiation and know when you are in a negotiation situation.
  • Take a self-assessment to identify your strengths and weaknesses. This class will provide tools for your areas of improvement.
  • Practice using the Five Disciplines of The Crestcom Negotiation Model.
  • Select tips and tactics from the Penta Negotiator Tool Kit.
  • Using the five dimensions of the Penta Negotiator Dimension Model, the participant will refine skills through role play simulation

03B: Change How You Manage Change

Featuring L. Bonita Patterson

Change management is the discipline that guides how we prepare and support individuals to successfully adopt change in order to drive organizational success and outcomes.

Organizations, like life, are dynamic and always evolving. Change will occur whether or not we want it or are ready for it. As we all have heard countless times, progress and change are inevitable. Good leaders recognize that how they manage change will determine whether the change they initiate, in the end, is successful or a dismal failure.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain foundational aspects of change management and the critical role managers play in the change process.
  • Apply a practical framework to move you and your workforce past change obstacles to the desired future state.
  • Recognize resistance to change and the tools available to help address that resistance.
